City Council Structure

Restructure the City Council to better represent all of Lansing and work more efficiently. The distribution of power between city council and the mayor needs to be better balanced, and a restrucuring will empower councilmembers.

Mayoral Power

Keep strong mayor system with democratically elected leader, but restrict the mayor's authority to nominate department heads and entire boards and commissions. This will better balance the power between the mayor and the city council.

Community Boards & Commissions

Enhance the city's various boards and commissions to ensure an inclusive and equitable city government. Increase scope of commissions, consider term limits, and refine nomination process to be more inclusive.
